Fencing: Amer Qualifies to Rio

Egyptian fencing champion, Mohamed Amer, managed to qualify to The Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro 2016 joining Noura Mohamaed, the most recent qualifier from the Fencing team.

Amer’s qualification came after the results of the world rankings were announced by the international federation, in which he was ranked number one in Africa and 24th internationally.

It is worth mentioning that the young fencer won the Senior Men’s Sabre 2015 African Championship which was held in Egypt, in addition to, U20 Men’s Sabre 2015/2016 African Championship which was held in Mali.

This qualification increased the number of Egyptian athletes who will be heading to Rio de Janeiro this summer to 92 athletes. The list includes the Egyptian volleyball team and Hedaya Malak.
